TRIO SSS/STEM Presents: Techie Talk Tuesday

Techie Talk Tuesday connects TRIO Students to workers in the tech industry (technical and non-technical roles) to learn more about them and how they got into their roles.

For this month's speaker, we have Diana Lin

Born and raised in San Francisco, Diana Lin is a graduate from SJSU and majored in Civil Engineering with a minor in Mathematics.  While at SJSU, she joined the ASPIRE Program (SJSU's TRIO Student Support Services). In addition, being involved with TRIO, she also took up officer positions for the SJSU’s American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). She also led the GeoWall team at the annual regional conferences for ASCE for two years. During the summer before her senior year, she was also involved with the Earthquake Engineers Research Institute (EERI), where she participated in a summer research project in San Diego. Throughout her extracurricular activities, she was able to focus on her academics with the help of TRIO and was able to become a member of the university’s Chi Epsilon chapter, an honor society for Civil Engineers.

Diana Lin is now a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) and currently works for a local private geotechnical engineering consulting firm, Cornerstone Earth Group. There she uses her knowledge and experience to provide a variety of recommendations and analysis such as slope stability, foundation design, and earthwork for various projects. Additionally, she stays involved with ASCE and is the current President for the San Jose Branch. During her spare time, you can find her running, hiking, or biking new trails or looking for local hidden gems places to taste all around the bay!
