Confined Space Rescue Awareness is a California state sanctioned course and co-requisite to Fire Fighter 1. This course provides awareness-level instruction in identifying a permit and nonpermit required confined space, the hazards associated with confined spaces, state regulations and industry standards, incident management, communications, and equipment requirements. This course does not qualify participants to make permit-required entries.
A certificate of completion will be offered upon successful completion of all activities and tests.
Course Objectives:
- Identify the regulations and industry standards relating to confined-space incidents.
- Describe the history behind the dangers of confined spaces and describe the industry recognized levels of training.
- Define and recognize a confined space and a permit-required confined space.
- Recognize and identify all incident hazards and initiate scene control.
This class is No Cost to students interested in an Emergency Service Career or First Responder. This course has been funded though the Mission College Community Career Pathways Grant Program.
