Women in Leadership: Changing the World is an event to celebrate and acknowledge women in leadership positions, who have sought to make positive changes and contributions to their communities and the world. Sponsored by the Mission College History Department, Honors Transfer Project, and the Office of Student Equity & Success, the goal of this inaugural event is twofold. First, to provide students with an opportunity to hear from and speak with women who can be mentors, role models, and a source of inspiration as they themselves go out into the world, and second to allow Mission College to be a place that not only serves the community but also speaks for the community it serves, wherein Mission becomes a place that celebrates, acknowledges, and advocates for true equity for all members of our community.

At our first annual event we will be recognizing four outstanding women with the WLCW aware (Women in Leadership: Changing the World) who have done exemplary things in their communities and we will give students the chance to hear from these women first hand.

Award Recipients:

Mei Lin Fung: Founder of People Centered Internet, Unit Coordinator of California Health Medical Reserve Corp: development of customer management software in the high tech industry

Marsali Hancock: CEO of EP3: for her lifelong service promoting safe and healthy children around the world in cyberspace
